CLAW Ed was developed to familiarize our clients and communities with legal terminology often encountered during the course of a typical personal injury case. We want you to completely understand what is happening in your case, every step of the way.
Technical jargon, Latin, and obscure terms can be confusing and unsettling. To that end, we’re here to demystify the phraseology to help keep you informed, always. Presented in two parts (written and video), each set of posts will focus on a single concept, defined and discussed by our trial attorneys.
Our debut term is DEPOSITION. An important part of the discovery process, a deposition is an oral statement of a witness before trial, taken under oath. It presents an opportunity for all parties in a case to learn the facts as presented by each witness. Here, attorney Sarah Stempky-Kime discusses what to expect if you are scheduled to be deposed.
