Walking for a Cure: Join Christensen Law in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
At Christensen Law, we’re proud to participate in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign. This year’s team walk is on Saturday morning, October 25th in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and we hope you’ll consider joining us —whether walking alongside us or supporting our efforts by sharing our fundraising link. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the nation’s largest and most impactful breast cancer movement, working tirelessly to end breast cancer. This event in Ann Arbor is the premier breast cancer walk in the area – drawing thousands of people, all sharing a singular focus. Please note that all funds go directly to the American Cancer Society, a qualified 501(c)(3) organization, and are tax deductible.
For many of us, this cause hits close to home.
Our Intake Specialist and Client Experience Manager, Nancy Pruett, has a deeply personal reason for being involved. She recently lost her niece to a harrowing 8-year battle with breast cancer. Gina, a young mother, wife and, ironically, a professional in the cancer support industry (she worked for many years in logistics for the Susan Komen Foundation), lost her life after giving so much to others. During her lengthy illness, she received continued outreach and support from the cancer community, directly benefitting from the work of the American Cancer Society (ACS). Nancy recalls that while Gina was ever the optimist in her heart and always had a smile on her face, she knew that her niece experienced privately very dark moments that no one except a patient or survivor could ever understand. What drives Nancy to continue to campaign for a cure is knowing that Gina had the blessing of medical advancements resulting from the research and development that the ACS funds. “It at least gave us some more time with her,” she reflects.
The importance of this campaign can’t be overstated. Breast cancer affects thousands of families in Michigan each year, and millions more globally. Funds raised support research, provide patient services, and ensure no one has to face this disease alone. By joining our team or helping us spread the word, you are contributing to life-saving programs and showing support for those currently battling cancer. Participating in Making Strides is a practical way we can honor those who’ve passed, and help other families avoid the pain of loss.
Every penny raised, every step taken, and every voice lifted in awareness matters.
Walk With Us
We promise a day full of community, hope, and empowerment and all things PINK! Walking together reminds us that while cancer touches many lives, we’re stronger when we face it together. Every step counts—whether you lace up your sneakers and join us in Ann Arbor, or help us reach our fundraising goal online. By the way, this is a gentle walk in the beautiful nature trails at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor (location). More details will be forthcoming, but typically the event is a 5k (3.1 miles) non-competitive walk with the option to use a 1-mile turnaround for a shorter distance. Bookmark this page or our team page below to learn more as we get closer to the date!
Sign up today to join us walking on the day, donate (every dollar really does count), or share our team page with your contacts to help raise awareness. We very much appreciate your support and hope to see you on the day!
Let’s honor those we’ve lost, celebrate the survivors, and push forward toward a world without breast cancer. Together, we can kick cancer’s ass! Join our team here:
