CELEBRATING STEPHANIE’S 9-YEAR ANNIVERSARY
Ask any member of the firm and they’ll tell you Stephanie McPherson knows her stuff. As the Senior Litigation Paralegal, she is responsible not only for managing Dave Christensen and Sarah Stempky-Kime’s caseload, but also for training and systems. “Stephanie handles the heavy lifting on over 100 cases at any time, deals with clients effectively and efficiently, and happily takes on added responsibility,” says Sarah. “She meets each new challenge head-on with grace.”
The daughter of an attorney, she knew early on she wanted to pursue a career in law, but not necessarily as a lawyer. After obtaining a BS in Public Administration & Policy, she worked as a Legal Assistant and Office Manager for a small firm in Rochester where she assisted with trial and hearing preparation of warranty law cases. She then obtained her Paralegal Certificate and began working as a paralegal in personal injury, auto negligence, social security disability and medical malpractice disciplines, earning increased levels of responsibility and autonomy with each new role.
She met Dave in 2012, and instantly liked his energy. “I remember thinking that I would be so lucky to work with someone this passionate,” Stephanie recalls, “It felt right, a good fit.” She accepted the offer to work with Dave and Sarah at their previous high-volume firm at the end of that year. Not long after, Dave asked her to take a walk with him to Starbucks. She retells the story of how she was worried about getting fired, but instead was asked to join him and Sarah in setting out on their own to open Christensen Law, where she has grown exponentially.
“Stephanie is a phenomenal team member,” says Dave. “A true professional, she heads up a team of the finest paralegals I’ve worked with in 30 years of practice.”
What she loves most about her work is the everyday interaction with clients and making sure they are kept fully apprised of their case status. “I also love the vibe here – everyone is super motivated, but we still have fun and get along well.”
Family and friends are top priorities for Stephanie – indeed, she is still extremely close with her best friends from high school, and gets together with them regularly. With two young daughters, Stephanie is a busy mom, overseeing homework, extracurricular activities including competition dance, riding lessons, crafting, and generally being mermaids together. Living on the water, the family spends a lot of time enjoying the outdoors on their boat during the season on Lake St. Clair.
