Join Us for Alistair’s Sunrise Open 2026

Tennis, Community, and a Cause Close to Our Hearts

This June, we invite you to grab your racquet, wear your purple, and join us for Alistair’s Sunrise Open 2026, a tennis tournament and fundraiser benefiting two organizations doing meaningful work for families affected by epilepsy: Epilepsy Foundation Michigan and the Pediatric Epilepsy Surgery Alliance. The event will take place June 5–7 at Bloomfield Open Hunt, located at 405 East Long Lake Road in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Hosted with the support of Christensen Law Managing Partner Sarah Stempky-Kime and BOH Director of Tennis and Coach Bill Smith, this event brings together local tennis pros, players, families, friends, and supporters for a weekend of competitive play, community connection, and purpose.

For Sarah and her family, this cause is deeply personal.

This summer marks the sixth anniversary of Alistair’s life-changing neurosurgery at UCLA Medical Center, where he underwent a hemispherectomy – the complex removal of half of his brain – to stop the devastating effects of early epilepsy and persistent seizures. It was an almost impossible decision for his parents, Sarah and Dan, but one made with hope, courage, and extraordinary trust in the medical team caring for him.

Today, Alistair is a joyful reminder of what hope, medical innovation, family, and community can make possible. His love of tennis – and especially his love for Coach Bill – makes this tournament a fitting and meaningful way to celebrate how far he has come while helping other families still facing the uncertainty of epilepsy.

Purple is the color of epilepsy awareness, and we wear it proudly to honor children and adults living with epilepsy, support families searching for answers, and raise hope for more accessible, less invasive treatment options in the future.

TOURNEY DETAILS

The weekend will include singles, doubles, mixed doubles, and a Friday night Pro-Am fundraiser. Local racquet directors and tennis pros will be paired with entrants for an evening of great tennis, food, drinks, and plenty of laughs. The tournament will follow a two-match guarantee format with USTA rules, and the Pro-Am is open to both men and women.

Entry fees are $75 for singles, $80 for doubles, and $300 for the Pro-Am. Tournament fees and charitable donations may be sent by Venmo to @bsmithj3 or billed to a BOH member account. To register or learn more, download and complete the Registration Form below and email bsmith@bohclub.com.

Whether you play, donate, sponsor, cheer from the sidelines, or simply help spread the word, your support matters. Every registration helps raise awareness, fund resources, and support organizations working tirelessly for people living with epilepsy.

Join us for a weekend of tennis, hope, and heart – and help us make Alistair’s Sunrise Open 2026 a powerful show of support for epilepsy awareness. 🎾🥎
